The UglyKittyReDeux uses security envelopes in functional and fabulous jewelry! Security Envelope Fashion is a great idea. I’ve always known how much I like the security envelope patterns but I never considered being able to wear them as a necklace, ring, or earrings. Shop Owner Renee Lavinsky has figured out a way to offer these great patterns in a functional way. Here is one of her product descriptions:
A conversation-starting pendant necklace made with sterling silver, resin, and a recycled security envelope.
The oval pendant measures 1 (25 mm) inch by 0.75 (9 mm) inches and is about 1/8-inch (4 mm) thick and comes with an 18 inch sterling silver chain.
Here is a guide to photographing artwork (2d and 3d). It’s the best one I’ve found and has been very helpful to me in photographing my own work and others. It covers beginner topics as well as advanced. http://www.dallasartsrevue.com/resources/How-to-Photo-Art.shtml
If your art involves color, shape, dimension or texture, direct sunlight is the best light source, and it is widely available on this planet. Not talking about full — or open — shade (illuminated by the overly blue sky above), not dappled light (like from a tree’s varying shadows), not overcast sky light (when the sun goes behind a cloud), but direct light beamed down 93 million miles from our local star.
Direct sunlight, however, is not always available, and other natural and unnatural light sources have their qualities, too. (See Other Light, below.) They’re just not as good nor cheap nor easy to deal with as the light from the sun.

2014 New Trier Alumni Show
Feb 3 – Feb 28th
Ann Brierly Gallery (open during school hours)
385 Winnetka Ave, Winnetka, IL 60093
We are proud to announce the 2014 New Trier Alumni Art Show, featuring a sampling of alumni artwork from 1945-2013. The exhibition covers many types of artistic mediums, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, glass, and video.
This is the first alumni art show of its kind to cover such a wide range of graduates and mediums. Current New Trier students will be able to see the different artistic paths that graduates have chosen. We hope the show will encourage a dialogue between different generation of artists and inspire young artists to pursue their dreams! The exhibition will be on display through February 28th.
Here are some pictures of Montrose Brown Line Stop on the Chicago CTA. Got a new camera! As the weather becomes warmer, I plan on taking a day trip around Chicago and taking as many pictures as I can. Right now we are in the middle of a very cold spell in January… brrr!
Mark your calendars for the New Trier Alumni Art Exhibition. Work will be on display February 3-28. I will be showing selections of my Snail Mail Security series. More information coming soon!
